Leadership & Staff
Matt Rosine, Founder & President
Landing in Chicago from the great city of Brighton, England in 2005, Matt quickly began to miss the culture of Football that he left behind.
With a long background in marketing and advertising, an avid Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea and England fan, and a soccer skill level that was in desperate need of improvement, Matt founded the Windy City Wanderers FC (now WCW FA) in the summer of 2006. His initial idea was to find a handful of people to “kick the ball around” a couple of times a week, but it quickly evolved into a mission to make Chicago THE soccer city in the USA.
On a continual journey to surround himself with positive people who share his vision, Matt’s main role is to continually develop the long term goals of WCW and work with both the members of WCW FA and strategic partners to promote the sport of soccer in Chicago. Establishing new opportunities for Chicago’s adults to play soccer and bringing complete beginners into the game are priority number one for him.
Although the years of washing hundreds of pinnies by hand are behind him and his main focus is plotting the long term future of WCW, you’ll still see Matt out at events talking to members and enjoying the sport just as he did in 2006.
Matt is married to his beautiful wife Shannon (who frequently upstages him on the soccer field), and they have two young daughters together: Ella Sophia and Charlotte Amelia. Their dog Pickles is official club mascot, and longs for the summer months when she can be out terrorizing innocent soccer balls everywhere.
Sam Coughenour, Operations & Events
Sam has been playing soccer all of his life. Originally from Michigan, where Sam helped win a Division I State Soccer Championship at Traverse City West Senior High School and played with two collegiate level programs (Hope College and Western Michigan University), Sam moved to Chicago to finish up his undergraduate study at Columbia College.
Sam is one of the most important cogs in the machine that is WCW. Responsible for all day-to-day operations, he is the guy that you’ll talk to when you want to play soccer in Chicago. He over sees all leagues, scheduling and communication, including referee assigning, and is also responsible for the promotion and marketing of all WCW programs.
He is also responsible for never letting Matt win at a game of FIFA 12.
